ANNOUNCEMENT: Life has gone off the rails in your host's world. My husband is currently in the critical cardiac unit of a local hospital--waiting on a surgery to install a heart pump. I will update this page as often as I can, but I don't know how often that will be for a while. Thank you for your understanding.
UPDATE: Surgery went well--the surgeon found, once he was in there, that the heart was in better shape than scans indicated. He was able to do a triple-bypass instead of the pump. (We're SO thankful for that!). Recovery is going well--but slow. He's currently at a rehabilitation facility and we hope to have him home by Dec 7th. Sooner if therapy goes better than expected.
2nd UPDATE: He came home on Dec. 5th--he made incredible progress during his 10 days at the facility. Now we just have to figure out his new diet--a challenge because he's also diabetic and lactose intolerant [and not a fan of veggies--I've told him he's going to have to broaden his palate. :-) ].

oh my goodness, I am so very sorry to read this announcement about your husband. I am praying for you.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this! Praying for him and will have him added to the prayer list.

Thank you all! He's had surgery--the surgeon was able to do a triple-bypass instead of the heart pump. We're SO thankful for that! So far, recovery is going well--slower than he'd like but isn't that always the way? We're hoping to have him home by Dec 7th (sooner if therapy goes well).

ReplyDeleteHug and prayers for your hubby's continuing recovery. My hubby had a heart attack late last year and had two stents put in so know what you are going through. Take it one day at a time with your new normal. We had fun figuring out what he could and couldn't eat and settled on a keto diet. Email me if you need to talk.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robin. My husband has the added fun of being diabetic and lactose intolerant. So, putting together a diet is going to be challenging. We're just taking it slow.
